Soviet Union, catching U.S. off-guard.

1963- premiere of "Doctor No."

1967- Muhammad Ali indicted for refusing induction into U.S. Army.

1970- Beatles release "Let It Be"

1970- Construction workers ("hardhats") break up antiwar rally in Manhattan.

1973- Ten week American Indian Movement occupaton of Wounded Knee ends.
